Movie & text by Ari Fararooy
A surreal take on my experiences at Burning Man 2014.
Check out my photos from the Burn:
This year I attended my first Burning Man festival and had an insane time. The whole week felt like a really trippy, lucid dream. I was so busy exploring and meeting people that I barely took my camera out (hence the minute long video). This video is a collection of various moments I experienced that week.
A few hours after we burned the man, I headed to the temple to lie down and ultimately fell asleep. I was suddenly woken up by the sound you hear in this video, which was playing literally right behind my head. I turned around and saw this girl, Marisa, who was playing the didgeridoo, a wooden instrument which is insanely difficult to use. I quickly grabbed my iPhone and started recording her playing. I decided to use the audio as the soundtrack for the video to help illustrate the unique, psychedelic nature of my Burning Man experience.
Filmed entirely using my Sony NEX-7 with Fisheye lens.
You’ve got your slick, polished Burning Man videos, and then there are those from everyday Burners like the rest of us that just make you happy. This is one of those. These folks are first-time Burners from Australia. Seems they had a good time of it out there.
The online survey is now live at http://census.burningman.com and we encourage all 2014 citizens of Black Rock City to complete a survey as soon as possible so that your voices are represented in the 2014 report. Results won’t be ready until after the online instrument closes.
For the burning-data curious, we have some preliminary results for you! http://blackrockcitycensus.wordpress.com/
The Burning Man community respects the environment. We are committed to leaving no physical trace of our activities wherever we gather. We clean up after ourselves and endeavor, whenever possible, to leave such places in a better state than when we found them.
MOOP MAP 2014: Respect & Restoration
Sixty-six thousand people attended Burning Man this year, and more than 200 of them were children. When Fusion producers found out there was a designated camp for kids and families in the desert, we were stunned. They call the camp Kidsville.
